Hip, Hip, Hooray, Gamers! You all made it through another year of successful gaming, (hopefully) breaking high scores, unlocking amazing skins, and winning awards! 

2023 was the season of the blockbuster with The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the KingdomBaldur’s Gate 3Marvel’s Spider-Man 2Alan Wake 2, Mortal Kombat 1, and so many more titles, we’ve all had a blast, and we’re sure you did too! 

As the year ends, the studios have gone into full throttle to launch new games- be it the newest titles or additional series to the pre-existing roster of blockbusters. While we’re excited about most titles, we’re skeptical about them living up to the fame of their predecessors, yet here are a bunch of games to keep an eye out for in the market and on Driffle. 

Tekken 8 

Release Date: January 26

Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Windows

Tekken has been a fan favourite ever since the first version came from your arcades to your consoles! The eighth main and tenth overall editions shall come in series with the previous year’s famous launches, Street Fighter 6 and Mortal Kombat 1. The addition of a new character trained by the antagonist to the roster sure creates an aura of excitement for the series! Wait for Kuma as we eagerly wait to play and review Tekken 8! 

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League 

Release Date: February 2

Platform: PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Windows

Your favorite hero, OOPS, I mean, the villain, is back! Join the legendary Harley Quin on her battle against the Justice League gone rogue. She’s not alone; you get to see the best of your heroes-Batman, pair up with your favorite villain! After a year of delay, we believe that it is DC’s moment to shine! 

Princess Peach Showtime!

Release Date: March 22 

Platform: Nintendo Switch

It’s about time that the princesses start escaping the castle themselves! Welcome to the ultimate Princess showdown as Princess Peach embarks on taking down foes alike in the Super Mario universe! Grape and the Sour Bunch are recent additions as antagonists in the Mario series, a refreshing change from the repeated storyline of Bowser abducting characters.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

Release Date: Late 2024 

Platform: Nintendo Switch

As your beloved franchise is back with yet another superhit remastered for Switch, we cannot wait to review it on our consoles! Your beloved RPG from the early 2000s has been under the development and testing processes for Nintendo Switch, as revealed in the announcement on September 23 by Nintendo Direct! 

Would there be new features, or would it be good old Mario for just another device? Stay tuned to find out. 

Destiny 2: The Final Shape

Release Date: February 27 

Platforms: PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Windows

Have you also been wondering about what this celestial body named The Traveller is? You’re just in time for the perfect journey into the unknown. The last expansion to Destiny 2 shall come with a bang as The Final entails the ultimate battle with the perilous enemy, The Witness! 

As the trend goes, you get new Solar, Void, and Arc supers with foreign yet exciting new weapons for you to bear and battle with! 

Star Wars: Dark Forces (Remaster) 

Release Date: February 28

Platforms: PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Switch, Windows

It is time to bring your sabers out, for we believe in the solidarity of “May the force be with you!” From the cinematic universe to the world of video games, there’s a scarcity of people who haven’t heard of Star Wars. After years of struggling to curate software to make the Dark Forces easily playable on PC, The Force Engine has finally come up with something tangible (hopefully easily playable) to make this a reality! Night Dive Studio shall be taking charge of the process to cater our beloved game to different devices as a final relief to the fans this February!
